Their Brief - - Pall Corporation is the largest and most diverse filtration, separations and purifications company in the world. Pall Medical's Pall-Aquasafe range of filters are used to remove micro-organisms from water at the point of delivery. To support this product, the company needed a system to manage the installation and replacement cycle for these filters in hospitals, where they are installed on taps, showers and medical equipment.
Our Solution - MicroSec designed a PC system with a SQL Server database to hold details of the locations where filters are required, filter lifetimes, and the dates on which filters were installed at locations. The system then notified the user which filters needed changing on a particular day, and these details were downloaded to a handheld Symbol scanner, running Pocket PC. The scanner was then used to record the filter changes - using barcodes on the filters and on the installation points - and these changes synchronised with the database. The system is being used across Europe to manage large numbers of installations - for example up to 500 locations in a single hospital. MicroSec also supply and pre-configure the PC and handheld units, in the appropriate language for the end customer.
