Pall Data - Quality software solutions
Their Brief - - Pall Corporation is the largest and most diverse filtration, separations and purifications company in the world. Pall Medical's eBDS system is a solution for the detection of bacteria for quality control testing in leukocyte-reduced apheresis platelets and whole blood derived platelets in plasma. Pall required a software system to aid the management of the detection process - which involved monitoring of the time from blood donation, incubation of a sample at raised temperature, followed by testing of the sample. The system also needed to provide traceability and audit, and communicate test results to external IT systems.
Our Solution - MicroSec designed a .NET PC-based system, with data being stored in a SQL Server database. Blood units are registered on the system, which then tracks the length of time since donation. When the appropriate unit age has been reached, the unit becomes available for sampling. Sample age is monitored, and when the appropriate age has been reached, the sample is made available for testing. The system communicates with the analysis hardware to ensure that a sample is not tested too soon, and also to record the test result.
